https://journals.uima.ac.id/index.php/jiiki/article/view/3368

Background: Musculoskeletal complaints are a common discomfort experienced by nursing students during clinical practice in hospitals. This occurs because they do not pay attention to important factors that pose risks, particularly related to improper patient handling. One intervention used to address these complaints is Workplace Stretching Exercise (WSE). WSE is a series of muscle-stretching exercises designed to relax and increase the flexibility of muscles that are considered problematic.

Objectives: To determine the effect of WSE on musculoskeletal complaints among nursing students during clinical practice in hospitals.

Methods: This research is a pre-experimental study with a two-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consists of 26 individuals in both the intervention and control groups, selected using purposive sampling. The questionnaire used is the Nordic Body Map (NBM) to detect musculoskeletal complaints.

Results: Statistical test results using the Wilcoxon test showed p = 0.000 (α = 0.05), indicating that WSE has an effect on musculoskeletal complaints among nursing students during clinical practice in hospitals.

Conclusion: WSE should be routinely performed by nursing students during clinical practice to address musculoskeletal complaints.
Weni Widya ShariRitta Farma

https://journals.uima.ac.id/index.php/jiiki/article/view/3486

Introduction: Stroke is a serious and life-threatening neurological disease worldwide that has long been a major concern in the world health sector. Stroke has become a global health challenge and is a major cause of disability and death in many countries. Many studies highlight the risk factors that contribute to the occurrence of a first stroke attact, but there is a limited study that focuses on the factors that influence someone to experience a recurrence of stroke.

Objective: To identify the factors that contribute and are the most dominant in the incidence of recurrence stroke.

Method: This study is a descriptive quantitative study that employs observation methods and a cross-sectional approach, with data analysis conducted using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate techniques.

Results: There are 152 recurrent stroke patients partisipated in this study. The accidental sampling technique was used to obtain potential respondents. Researchers found that out of the 10 factors that affect the chance of having a recurrence stroke, three are the most important. These are self-rehabilitation (P value = 0.000; OR = 58.843, CI = 7.0497–491.165), family support (P value = 0.027; OR = 0.931, CI = 0.8734-0.992), and taking medications as prescribed (P value = 0.031; OR = 0.670, CI = 0.4666-0.963).

Conclusion: There are 3 factors that most dominantly influence the incidence of recurrent stroke, namely early rehabilitation, family support, and patient compliance in taking medication. Furthermore, enhancing patients' adherence to self-management poststroke requires social support from family, peers, and healthcare providers.
Tutik LaminiSugiharto SugihartoBeti Kristinawati

https://journals.uima.ac.id/index.php/jiiki/article/view/3497

Background: The elderly, defined as individuals aged 60 years and above, have seen an increasing population due to advancements in healthcare but also face challenges such as hypertension. Hypertension, often referred to as "The Silent Killer," is becoming more common among the elderly due to physiological changes associated with aging. This condition, a leading cause of global cardiovascular diseases, heightens the risk of serious complications such as stroke and heart attack.

Objectives: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of health education using video and poster media on the knowledge of the elderly about hypertension.

Methods: This study employs a quasi-experimental design using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design method, where the experimental and control groups were not randomly assigned. A total of 32 samples were collected and divided into two groups (control and treatment). Data analysis included univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses.

Results: The MANOVA test results indicated that the most influential variable affecting the respondents' knowledge level was education, with a p-value of 0.026. This value approaches 1, indicating that education has a stronger correlation compared to other variables.

Conclusion: There is an effect of health education using video and poster media on the knowledge level of the elderly about hypertension.
Doan PratamaLily HerlinahTria Astika Endah Permatasari

https://journals.uima.ac.id/index.php/jiiki/article/view/3471

Background: Stroke is a serious condition that can have a significant psychological impact on patients, including anxiety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy that can influence attitudes and behaviors as well as cognitive changes, resulting in the desired attitude changes.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to determine the effect of CBT on anxiety levels in elderly individuals diagnosed with stroke.

Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 36 elderly stroke patients. The analysis in this study used the dependent T-Test.

Results: The average anxiety level decreased by 14.89, and the statistical test results showed a P-Value of 0.000, indicating that the intervention had a significant effect.

Conclusion: This study concludes that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) using in vivo exposure techniques is significantly effective in reducing anxiety levels in the intervention group compared to the control group. Although there are other influencing variables such as education, these variables are not statistically significant.
Ridho FidrajayaTria Astika Endah PermatasariLily Herlinah

https://journals.uima.ac.id/index.php/jiiki/article/view/3451

Background: One of the non-pharmacological intervention that can be used is hypnotherapy. This intervention uses suggestions that will relax the client's condition so that the brain produces the hormones serotonin, endorpine, and activation of autonomic nerve responses. At the same time the neuroendocrine system will also lower levels of cortisol, glucocorticoids, gonadocorticoids, epinephrine, norepinephrine and will act directly on the alpha androgenic receptors of vascular smooth muscle, thus causing vasodilation of blood vessels, lowering total peripheral pressure and decreasing blood pressure, pulse, and breathing.

Objectives: This study is to determine the effect of hypnotherapy techniques on reducing anxiety levels in elderly families with hypertension at RT 10/RW 05 Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta.

Methods: This study employed a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test approach to examine the effect of an intervention on anxiety levels in elderly individuals with hypertension. The study population consisted of 39 elderly individuals, with 15 participants meeting the inclusion criteria. Data were collected in 2023, and the sample was selected using total sampling, consisting of 9 women and 6 men. Participants were observed before and after the intervention to assess changes in anxiety levels.

Results: This study showed that after being given hypnotherapy technique treatment, the majority experienced a decrease in anxiety levels, namely mild anxiety as many as 11 elderly (73.3%) and respondents who experienced moderate anxiety as many as 4 elderly (46.7%)

Conclusion: The majority of elderly individuals with hypertension experienced severe anxiety before receiving hypnosis techniques. After the application of hypnosis, most experienced a reduction in anxiety to mild levels. This demonstrates that hypnosis techniques have a significant effect in reducing anxiety levels in elderly individuals with hypertension
Marisca Agustina
